Coughlin Porter Lundeen Kids “Draw an Engineer”

International Women in Engineering Day (#INWED) is this Saturday, June 23. It’s not only an opportunity to recognize the achievements of women engineers, the day celebrates women’s impact in the field and promotes gender diversity and inclusivity in tech and science.

Whether serving as ACE mentors, supervising senior projects, guest lecturing in classrooms, or sharing our advice for the new professional, we’re always looking for ways to support and encourage future generations, especially those in STEM. Inspired by the INWED international campaign, we invited our team’s kiddos to draw what they think an engineer looks like. We love the creativity (and talent!) shown and hope that in a small way, it challenges engineering stereotypes. Plus, it’s really cute! Here are some of the submissions we received:

Like the #ILookLikeAnEngineer campaign, our “Draw an Engineer” activation reaffirms our commitment to supporting initiatives that drive female talent by inspiring girls to seek careers in STEM. It’s encouraging to see an uptrend in the number of women pursuing technical positions, but we know there is more work to be done.

On June 23, acknowledge your fellow female colleagues, the mentors who help break down gender barriers, the leaders who challenge the status quo and set an example for the next generation, and the friends and family members who support women in tech and science.

Happy Women in Engineering Day from the Coughlin Porter Lundeen team!
