A natural leader, Aaron is approachable, considerate, and a great listener. Whether working with clients, mentoring younger staff, collaborating with fellow NAIOP members, mentees, or even caring for his (adorable) daughter Lena – listening, he believes, makes all the difference.

Aaron is the go-to project manager for high design urban infill projects with aggressive schedules. His proactive approach and experience solving complex site issues deliver innovative solutions to meet the team’s goals. He’s well versed in site development requirements for projects located in Bellevue and within the city of Seattle and his portfolio includes various projects for multinational clients who have chosen the Puget Sound for urban campuses.

Joining us from Denver, Adam brings previous experience in wood-framed design. He enjoys the coordination between stakeholders to bring aesthetically pleasing structures that sustainably integrate with their environments to life. In his spare time, Adam loves to be active and is looking forward to exploring his new city!

According to Amelia, one of the most satisfying parts of her job is being able to realize her vision in a tangible way. She enjoys taking abstract ideas and simplifying them into equations or models that the entire team can collaborate on. She also loves learning and helping others discover more about AEC. “I enjoy taking the challenging technical aspects of engineering and making them feel manageable, and I think it would be really rewarding to do the same for others as a mentor.” When she’s out of the office, Amelia can be found snuggled up with her cat and a good book, listening to the rain fall on her tent, or in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal.

Born and raised in Venezuela, Ana moved to Texas when she was 11 and eventually found herself in Seattle as an intern, turned full-time employee, at Coughlin Porter Lundeen. (And we are so glad she found her way here, even though she misses the beach!) Ana greets every day with a grin. She is engaged and personally invested in each project she takes on and brings contagious positivity and enthusiasm wherever she goes, exciting and inspiring colleagues and clients alike. She enjoys the unique challenges that come along with every project and believes in the importance of always having a well-stocked “tool belt.”

Almost as tall as the buildings he designs, Andrew is someone we all look up to (physically and metaphorically). His personal motto – “worrying never helped anyone” – is evident in his role as a project manager, always addressing challenges head-on and with poise. Andrew’s practical nature, dry humor, and ability to maintain an even keel helps keep projects on course and makes him a valued asset to any team.

His approach is thoughtful and thorough, essential for someone who regularly manages complex, multi-phased projects. His work includes large residential mixed-use developments for both public and private clients as well as higher education facilities.

From the lines she carves on the slope as a ski-instructor at Steven’s Pass, to the drawings she produces here in-house, Bailey demonstrates meticulous work-ethic with a polished demeanor. Her favorite part of the job are the people she works with and her passion lies in the commercial market sector. Bailey’s proactive communication style with team members and clients ensures that everyone is on the same page to move the project forward.

If the opportunity presents itself – a bridge, a small cliff – Bart is known to throw a backflip into the water. He can’t help himself! It’s the perfect parallel for his work life: his calm nature is a welcome presence on the project team (standing on a pre-jump edge takes composure), he regularly exceeds client expectations (why jump when you could flip!?), and he’s always seeking unexpected solutions (always on the lookout for the perfect jumping spot).

Bart is a hardworking engineer and project manager who cares deeply about his projects and those he works with. He excels in sustainable design, and has completed many successful rain gardens, green roofs and stormwater harvesting systems. Bart enjoys realizing a shared vision with clients and creating strong working relationships with permitting agencies. His versatility and effective communication skills are appreciated by colleagues, owners, architects and contractors alike.

Ben’s ability to simplify complex projects and guide the coordination between architecture and structure is an asset to his project teams.

A natural leader and teacher, his leadership has been on display on many fronts, from supporting our Structural BIM group to designing internal training programs. Thoughtful and approachable, Ben’s also a key player as the firm refines processes, improving how we leverage project management tools and manage weekly scheduling, long-term project tracking, and staffing plans.

He’s a great resource for younger staff, too. Passionate about his work and supporting younger engineers, he emphasizes the importance of collaboration and teamwork. It doesn’t come as a surprise that Ben’s favorite type of work involves K-12 and higher education.

It was a professor who sparked Ben’s interest in structural engineering (and his lack of desire to write book reports). A slightly above-average-height basketballer, he’s a well-rounded and valuable team member on and off the court. Ben works with all project types, with a focus on mixed-use/multi-family residential projects, PreK-12 schools, and historic renovations. He is experienced with all building types but specializes in steel and wood framing. You can always count on Ben to deliver a high-quality project while meeting the needs of the client.

Participating in the ACE Mentorship Program in high school is what inspired Bridget to pursue engineering. “The program afforded me the opportunity to learn from professionals in the design field, especially women, about their educational backgrounds and experiences.” Fast-forward to now and she followed her passions all the way to Coughlin Porter Lundeen! In addition to neighborhood project tours and Lunch & Learns, Bridget’s favorite part of working at Coughlin Porter Lundeen is the supportive community. In her free time, Bridget can be found trying new foods, spending time with friends and family, traveling, and laying on a hammock in the sun.

Bryan loves a challenge. He thrives designing for complex, multi-phased projects, accommodating multiple stakeholders, and finding creative solutions. Organized and proactive, his approach identifies and mitigates potential issues before they can impact the project budget or schedule. His diverse portfolio includes new construction and renovation for healthcare, laboratory, higher education, and office campuses.

As a leading expert in seismic retrofits, Bryan provides flexible, creative, and visionary designs that increase building performance while meeting the owner’s budget goal. He also contributes to seismic code development as chair of the SEAW State Existing Buildings Committee.

If Camie had a superpower, it would be the ability to teleport anywhere in the world. She enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures and the diversity she embraces translates to the array of project types she executes. As a team member, she can be counted on to tackle any design challenge, regardless of material type. While her primary interests lie in designing wood lateral systems for multi-family developments and seismically retrofitting buildings, Camie prides herself in adaptability.

A carpenter father, a creative family, and a sincere love for structure all contribute to Chris’ hardworking nature and unique perspective. He thrives on challenges and uses unique solutions to bring architectural visions to life. A truly versatile engineer, his portfolio spans markets and material types. Approachable, hardworking, and a great teacher, he lends his leadership to Coughlin Porter Lundeen internal communication, mentorship and marketing.

At the forefront of the mass timber movement, Chris has several CLT projects underway and contributed to various studies related to the use of CLT in the Pacific Northwest. He has completed structural element evaluations (addressing the hurdles of using CLT as an alternative to concrete and steel), pitched local jurisdictions, presented nationally, and continues to push CLT research and applications forward.

Born into a family of builders, Chris’s path into the AEC industry felt fitting. He enjoys the variety of work that comes his way and takes pride in seeing his projects progress from Revit to reality. Chris’s sharp eye, dedication to detail, and experience with PT concrete, steel, and wood make him an excellent addition to our drafting team.

Christen understands that project-specific structural system design is critical to a client’s success, and it is representative of her larger commitment to exploring innovative structural design options. She brings an expertise in cross-laminated timber, with the depth of experience in a variety of building materials and delivery methods. Christen’s ultimate passion lies in the PreK-12 sector, where she notes the uniqueness of the designs, diversity of building materials, and distinctive programming needs are both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

When he’s not sauntering around the office making jokes and telling tales (usually about his two goats Biscuit and Tater), Colin corrals the CAD team with his more than 25 years’ of experience. His breadth of work spans all market sectors and this versatility is invaluable to the team he supports. Colin’s saucy sense of humor is balanced by earnestness — his animated approach to difficult tasks provides a feeling of ease and confidence for project teams.

Constance loves helping people. Whether it be helping someone understand their payroll, benefits, available resources, or helping a stranger find their way; contributing to someone’s wellbeing fills her with joy. She is an excellent resource for worldwide employment rights and lives up to her motto “always be learning,” by staying up-to-date on the latest and greatest in HR. In her spare time, Constance can be found making candles, reading, and wishing she could teleport.

Making a positive impact on the region he’s always called home is important to Cory. He’s inspired by projects that have a lasting impact on the community for future generations. It’s no surprise that he’s a huge supporter of the firm’s work with Mary’s Place, Construction for Change and youth mentoring (to name a few).

He manages a large number of both public and private projects spanning the PreK-12, higher education, office, multi-unit residential, and municipal construction markets. His LEED accreditation ensures he brings passion for sustainability to every engagement, and his more than 20 years of experience with clients like Facebook, Nintendo, University of Washington and Seattle Public Schools allows him to design unique, modern solutions.

Our craft beer aficionado, Dave not only delivers delicious brews for Beer-Friday, he produces solid draft documents with his nearly 30 years of experience. Dave has vast knowledge spanning all project types but gravitates to K-12 believing that “better school environments lead to better learning”. His attention to detail and consistent delivery of high-caliber documents, coupled with his kind-hearted and encouraging nature, is appreciated by all.

Eric’s strengths are his versatility and efficiency. He brings extensive experience with concrete, steel, and mass timber construction to the higher education, commercial, multi-family, and PreK-12 markets. He seeks creative solutions to structural problems, working with design and construction partners alike to deliver effective designs that are the best match for the job at hand. His genuine attentiveness is appreciated across the board, especially on projects when timely, straightforward answers make all the difference. Eric’s happiest when golfing or participating in any outdoor activity. He’s also an enthusiastic leader of our team’s involvement in the annual NAIOP Community Enhancement Event.

Eric’s long-term goal is to build a moon base but he’s content designing buildings for earthlings in the interim.

He excels at balancing the big picture with the details, and takes pride in delivering a great set of drawings. Eric is skilled at every stage of the collaboration process, from brainstorming with owners and architects and working together to find solutions, to supporting the construction phase and celebrating together when an exceptional final design is realized.

Considered a jack-of-all trades, Eric has worked with most materials, including wood, heavy timber, steel, CMU, and concrete.

Both Garo’s teammates and loyal clients know and appreciate him for his listening skills. Within the firm, he’s dedicated to building a culture where staff feel supported, are excited by the firm’s projects, and are sincerely happy to come to work each day. On project work, he knows the right questions to ask – and asks them early – so the entire project team can make smart, thoughtful decisions.

Garo’s structural design experience spans education, multi-family residential, hospitality, medical, retail and commercial office industries. Long-term partners like Microsoft, Amazon.com, Starbucks, and Daniels Real Estate turn to him again and again for structural solutions and superior project management.

eorge’s ability to create positive environments and inclusive communities through comradery and mutual understanding is much like his knack for pairing delicious meals with the perfect wine. Like his twins, he knows there are two sides to every story. George brings people together around a common purpose, sharing knowledge, and leveraging everyone’s unique strengths to make a collective impact. His unique background allows him to effectively respond to transformation within the industry and workforce.

Fascinated by earthquakes since her elementary school science fair days, Hannah knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career in structural engineering. She completed multiple internships here before joining our team full-time, honing her skills and learning just what it meant to be a structural engineer. As a woman in AEC, supporting and encouraging young women and girls to pursue careers in STEM is something she’s passionate about. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys adventurous activities like hiking, rock climbing, and paddle boarding.

A love for math and science, and a fascination with learning how cities flow and function, drew Henry to civil engineering. He is passionate about sustainable development and eager to apply his problem-solving skills to our diverse portfolio. When he’s not at work, you can find him hiking, skiing, or checking out new restaurants and coffee spots in the city.

A leader of the Coughlin Porter Lundeen civil practice, Jackie has extensive experience creating sustainable designs and solutions for projects of all types and sizes, everything from Seattle Public Schools to Google’s exceptional new campus. Internally, she co-chairs the Sustainability Task Group and emphasizes mentorship, education, and collaboration.

Jason embodies the Hakuna Matata philosophy. Calm, collected and cheerfully witty, he’s always engaged and takes it upon himself to encourage and motivate others. Approaching every project with an eye for detail and quality, he’s able to find exceptional, creative structural design solutions for his projects. His diverse portfolio includes programs within preK-12, higher education, commercial office, multi-unit residential, healthcare, and civic projects. It also reflects his expertise in mass timber engineering. Jason is an industry leader and strong proponent of mass timber, educating peers, owners, contractors and architects, and supporting the design, coding and jurisdiction navigation of firm projects. Jason is involved with the AIA Mass Timber Committee and leads our internal Mass Timber Task Group.

Hailing from the warm sandy beaches of Venezuela, Javier has been “freezing” since moving to Seattle. But it’s nothing some time on the soccer field can’t help! His fascination with seismic design and analytical models for tall buildings drew him to structural engineering. Javier is motivated to identify simple and efficient solutions for complex situations, endeavoring to incorporate innovative materials and transform ideas into constructible realities.

With three degrees and nearly two decades of invaluable experience, Jay knows his stuff. He enjoys working with awesome people on projects that help bring cities into the future. Outside the office, he enjoys catching the latest flicks and frequently attends Thursday night movie premiers. If Jay were to have any superpower, it would be immortality – imagine how many degrees he’d have then?!

Jenna enjoys the unique challenges that come with each project. She was profoundly influenced by when she traveled in the Tohoku region of Japan, the area most devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster. Only a high schooler at the time, “the program inspired me to become a structural engineer because I wanted to help create structures that can withstand the detrimental effects of future natural disasters.” A dedicated engineer, she’s inspired when working with a team to create safe, beautiful buildings. Jenna spends her free time staying active and perfecting her smoothie-bowl-making skills.

Jim is synonymous with quality. Since his early career, his focus has been working collaboratively and efficiently with design teams to create superior construction drawings.

Coughlin Porter Lundeen’s culture has benefited from his outlook, as it’s founded on creative solutions and dedication to high quality design. As Jim says, “The commitment to comprehensive documents makes projects easier to construct and more economical to build.”  He’s developed a workplace where every team member takes seriously their responsibility to “do it right” and is committed to providing value for the design team, the owner, and the contractor.

His work with architectural structures of all sizes, shapes, and construction materials includes a prolific body of work with public and private clients in all markets served by the firm. He is known for his integrity and dedication to clients, and his influence is represented in the design of over 60 million square feet of facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Growing up in Gig Harbor, Joe has lived in Seattle since he began at the University of Washington in 2016. Now that he’s graduated, he’s excited to put his knowledge into practice. Influencing the built environment and being able to see his designs come to life, is what drives him. In the winter, Joe can be found in the mountains and in the summer, he’s most likely on the river or dominating on the tennis court.

Learn one new thing a day (in Joel’s case, 100) is a motto he strives to live by. A gamer, inventor and computer wiz, Joel pushes the boundaries of innovation in tech and applies this knowledge to AEC, specifically as it pertains to the integration of VR modeling. With 30 years of experience in AutoCAD drafting and 3D modeling software, his ability to recognize when a repetitive task can be automated and redeveloped is one of his core strengths.

A tech-savvy hard worker who served in the Korean Air Force, John enjoys the newfound knowledge that comes with each project. His contributions are enhanced by his civil engineering degree and his sense of humor in the hubbub of a project deadline.

Civil engineer turned surveyor, turned fitness company guru, turned civil CAD technician – Jordan’s always been one to follow his passions. He enjoys taking on projects that push boundaries and allow him to further expand his skillset – and he has fun doing it! In addition to AutoCAD, Jordan’s skills include an array of graphic programs, photography and videography, and cooking a bomb bacon parmesan chicken.

Kari has always found infrastructure to be fascinating. She began to explore that passion in college while taking an elective course in engineering geology. Spoiler: she loved it (even writing the field reports!). Having previous experience in AutoCAD, she decided to combine her two passions by going back to school for civil site design. With a long-term goal to become a civil engineer, Kari enjoys being involved in projects that positively impact the community. When she’s not working, Kari can be found spending time with family and trying out new recipes.

With a love for math and science and a fascination for buildings, Katie knew early on that she wanted to follow a path that allowed her passions to combine. Fast forward to today, she loves seeing her designs come to life and has found new joy in piecing together and adapting renovation projects. With a goal for continuous learning and her unwavering support of the St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, ID, Katie’s heart is evident in everything she does.

An appreciation for beautiful yet functional design is what led Katlyn toward civil engineering. She loves that each day (and project!) provides the opportunity for her to learn something new. In her spare time, you can find Katlyn outside – hiking, mountaineering, swimming, exploring, skiing, dancing, you name it! Born adventurer here, folks!

Katya received her master’s from Moscow State University and has established a strong foundation in engineering and drafting, working as a structural engineer in Russia and an AutoCAD drafter in Israel. She notes the best part of her job is plotting a set of just finished drawings. In her spare time, Katya practices her personal motto to “do all the good you can” by volunteering at the Shoreline Food Bank and at the Seattle Symphony as an usher.

Keith is at the forefront of our civil PreK-12 and higher education practices. Greatly respected in these markets, he partners with some of the region’s largest clients. In the office, he’s the go-to for complex stormwater system questions, and outside our walls, he’s an industry leader in stormwater management. His expertise spans design and analysis of detention and water quality systems, green designs, multi-phased project plans, and holistic solutions for large campuses.

Steadfast and patient, Keith is known for his thoughtfulness and kind mentorship. Internally, he helps shape our internship program and recruitment strategies, and is a valued voice in senior-level decisions and firm direction.

A distinguished gonfalon bearer who once used Dixie cups to build a dollhouse so high it hit the ceiling, Kelley has never been one to give up on her dreams. As a civil engineer, she consistently strives to improve people’s quality of life and make positive environmental impacts.

Hailing from a small rural community in Nebraska, Kelly is extremely excited to be pioneering a path for women in engineering. “Being a woman in engineering means everything to me. I couldn’t be prouder to be building a future where women in STEM is the new normal, not the exception.” As an engineer, she takes pride in guiding projects all the way from design to completion and loves seeing the positive and lasting effects of large-scale projects.

Prior to pursuing engineering, Kelly was interested in architecture. The idea of marrying her flair for aesthetics and design with her technical skills seemed like the perfect path. However, the more she acknowledged engineering, the more she realized her passion was actually analyzing a structure’s behavior. While versed in multiple market types, she most enjoys working on commercial office developments – “It feels surreal to know that I could help shape a city’s skyline!” A hardworking team member, Kelly strives to be an advocate and mentor for females interested in pursuing careers in STEM.

Ken was inspired to pursue drafting when he was in high school. Since then, he’s enjoyed a career watching buildings take shape. With a passion for challenging projects with unique structures, Ken has called Coughlin Porter Lundeen home for almost 20 years. When he’s not in the office, Ken can be found spending time with family, cycling, scuba diving, or tinkering with audio/video setups.

If Kristen wasn’t so drawn to the physics and math associated with design and architecture, we’d probably find her at a state or national park, sporting a ranger’s uniform. Luckily for us, she chose to pursue a career in structural engineering. With a passion for environmental justice, Kristen enjoys helping her projects reach their sustainability goals. On her days off, you can find her reading science fiction or fantasy books, and going to concerts.

Kyle was born and raised in a construction family (and has the backyard DIY projects to prove it!). Lucky for us, he found his fit in engineering where he excels as an engineer and project manager. During his tenure here, he has gained the trust of prominent clients, the respect of both staff and leadership, and a reputation for producing quality work.

Kyle helps lead the civil group with exceptional project management skills and strong business sense. He leverages more than ten years of experience to support some of the firm’s largest and most complex projects, and carries particular expertise in navigating City of Seattle utilities and power in dense urban sites.

With a personal motto to “do what scares you,” Laura approaches each day with a positive attitude and a drive to succeed. Her strong communication skills allow her to simplify complex structural issues as they relate to any project with peers and clients alike. As a team player who’s willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of a project, Laura understands the importance of early learning and mentorship. In her spare time, she can be found globetrotting or promoting STEM education.

An avid traveler with a drive to positively impact people’s lives, Lily’s perspective is a “big picture” one. She’s fascinated by how environmental aspects of civil engineering and sustainability fit together. She enjoys collaborating within a project team and looks forward to expanding her experience across market types. With a friendly demeanor and passion for learning, Lily is excited to work on projects that shape our city.

Marcie is a Certified Professional Services Marketer with more than 20 years of experience in AEC. In addition to directing the firm’s marketing efforts, Marcie partners with firm leadership to learn project stories, support business development efforts, and help shape the strategic vision for the firm. Her experience makes her a true expert in AEC practices, the Pacific Northwest market, and the Coughlin Porter Lundeen portfolio.

Thoughtful and generous, Marcie cares for her coworkers and team (visit her office for a smile and an M&M dispensed by the vintage machine of your choice) in acts big and small. She is also an active member of the Seattle Chapter of the Society of Marketing Professional Services, and facilitates a marketing roundtable.

Our resident restaurateur, coffee addict, and purveyor of all things cool, Mariah keeps us all on trend. And while that may not sound like the makings of a stereotypical librarian, Mariah is a librarian of sorts, organizing data, photos and records against the firm’s hundreds of projects.

Whether managing Coughlin Porter Lundeen’s voice on social media channels, populating the website, or supporting new business pursuits, Mariah is essential to the firm’s marketing plan and content strategy. Mariah loves collaborating with staff, and approaches every task with her trademark openness and level head.

The best piece of advice Marie’s ever been given is to be herself. As a kid, while that advice might have originally led her down a path to ballet slippers and toe points, she quickly realized her true passion lied in engineering. She chose structural engineering due to her desire to positively impact the cities and communities around her. With a strong work ethic and friendly demeanor, Marie enjoys watching her projects come to life.

A jack-of-all-trades, with a degree in Mechanical engineering, Matt isn’t your typical CAD Technician. He’s worked on nearly every project type, providing invaluable cross-market experience to his clients. As an innate problem-solver who views the world through “sarcastic-colored glasses,” Matt can be consistently counted on to provide innovative solutions.

A brilliant engineer, Matt has leveraged his creative thinking to lead some of the most complex projects in Coughlin Porter Lundeen’s portfolio. He specializes in concrete and steel systems with a portfolio that includes commercial office developments, high rise structures, higher education campuses, and state-of-the-art healthcare facilities.

He brings contagious energy to each engagement, and his charisma makes him a favorite among clients. As an Associate Principal, Matt is able to contribute in multiple arenas as technical mentor, business developer and organizational leader.

Michelle’s love for math and science led her to become fascinated with the diversity of civil engineering. She enjoys being able to realistically solve problems that end up being utilized by the public. A native of Walla Walla, Michelle balances her keen attention to detail with the importance of “big picture” thinking.

From the design of fire stations to K-12 facilities across the region, Mike has demonstrated his ability to lead teams and design for project types across the board. He is especially skilled in steel construction and non-standard excavation shoring system design. His most notable shoring design project may have been the one of the deepest excavations in downtown Seattle history, where the excavation depth exceeded 100 feet on portions of the site! Mike enjoys discovering the best design solutions that not only address structural issues but are responsive to architectural and mechanical requirements as well. He also takes pride in explaining unique structural system highlights to family members.

Mike is inspired by environmentally-integrated designs that push the limits of what’s possible. He loves to challenge himself and is always willing to put in the extra effort to get the job done. Motivated by teamwork, Mike loves collaborating with groups to achieve a shared goal and can’t wait to continue working to expand his skillset with our team. Although he knows he’s found a home here at Coughlin Porter Lundeen, he’s truly happiest when he’s hanging with his pup, Tank.

Curious and driven, Murray’s favorite projects are those that benefit the local ecosystem and require atypical design. He is well-versed in stormwater management and strives to provide out-of-the-box solutions to hydrological design challenges. His broad project experience includes multi-unit residential developments, corporate campus work for major Bay Area tech firms, school facilities, and large resorts. In his spare time, Murray can be found dominating at backyard ultimate Frisbee, reminiscing his swim-champ days, and workshopping his next recipe.

A licensed architect, Nancy brings experience from ZOLL Medical Device Company where she oversaw project submittals for AEC and manufacturing facilities. Her role as a civil project assistant allows her to combine her love for architecture and project management in a professional setting. She enjoys the practical outcome of applying her organizational skills in our bustling office. In her free time, Nancy enjoys playing pool, cooking, and bingeing her favorite TV shows.

Inspired by mindful development, Naomi loves the connection civil engineering forms between our communities and the surrounding environment. With an eye for detail, she thrives at construction support and cross discipline coordination. Outside the office, Naomi can be found on the water, supporting youth rowing and sailing teams – a cause very dear to her.

While Nick might be happiest behind a grill, watching the Huskies play, he was inspired to pursue a career in engineering due to his desire to solve large-scale engineering problems. He enjoys the physical nature of structural engineering most – finding true gratification in watching his designs come to life. Having grown up outside of Seattle, he was always astonished by the unique buildings and character in downtown. On an ideal day, Nick’s heading to a topping out party, eating BBQ, and enjoying the finished product of his designs.

Nick was inspired to become a drafter due to his desire to build spaces that improve social and living standards, without having to provide any physical labor. His talents with 3D modeling are only enhanced by his ability to adapt quickly – like a chameleon. With a quirky wit and an affinity to talk to like Donald Duck, Nick tackles each job with patience and a much-appreciated sense of humor.

An avid adventurer, Nurlan loves exploring new places with his friends, family, and dog Mini. As a BIM designer, he strives to continually advance his skills and expertise in BIM technology as it relates to the AEC industry. Whether it’s checking out a new trail or creating a new 3D model, Nurlan loves pushing himself out of his comfort zone.

Peter’s excellent customer service, attention to detail, and enthusiasm are appreciated by coworkers and clients alike. He thrives on being our resident “go-to guy” – his reliability and willingness to go above and beyond are what make him stand out. What most people don’t know about Peter is that he can sprint at an Olympic level – it’s legit. So, if you’re ever left wondering how Peter gets things done so fast, that’s why.

In Phil’s 25 years at Coughlin Porter Lundeen, he’s not only honed his drafting skills, but his entrepreneurial ones as well. Back in the day, he was the sole proprietor of “PhilCo.,” an in-house operation where he sold snacks from Costco. Now while his dreams for “PhilCo.” were large, the return on investment was low. Luckily, he still had drafting to fall back on. At the end of the day, Phil is an extremely hard worker that enjoys challenging, fast-track projects.

Detailed-oriented with a desire to never stop learning, Priyanka is motivated by solving problems that impact us daily. She’s passionate about philanthropy and wields a mature worldview, supporting causes like providing access to clean drinking water in rural Malaysia, encouraging education for every child, and eliminating child hunger. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Priyanka is fluent in both Malay and Tamil. When she’s not at work, she can be found cooking, baking, plane spotting, or settling in for a true crime marathon.

Rebecca embodies the senior project manager role, which is designed for those pursuing advanced technical expertise, leadership roles on committees that help shape code developments, and significant internal leadership and mentorship. She leads projects across public and private markets, serves as an excellent mentor to project managers and engineers, and contributes to the writing of national provisions for evaluation and retrofitting.

Rebecca has been involved in the structural design of new facilities and renovation projects which include a broad range of facility types, size, and building materials. She specializes in seismic upgrades and has an extensive URM retrofit resume. At the forefront of her field, she is a member of the ASCE Seattle Section History & Heritage Committee, served on the ASCE 41 Analysis subcommittee, and has presented EERI and SEAW seminars.

Reed is an incredibly hard worker with over 30 years of experience under his belt. From drafting on a board, to early computer-aided drawings, then to AutoCAD, and now Revit – Reed has seen it all! With a love for the environment (and a particularly green thumb), Reed spends his time off in his garden and making wine.

Having worked with Jim Coughlin since before the inception of Coughlin Porter Lundeen, one could argue that Russ knows his stuff (more than 30 years’ worth!). After beginning as a CAD Technician, he now spends his days as our resident IT Systems Manager. Whether it’s maintaining all our internal tech, troubleshooting network issues, or asking the eternal question, “did you try restarting?” Russ knows how to wear many hats, while remaining level-headed.

Originally from the Ukraine, Ruvim was most drawn to structural engineering due to its physical aspect. “Growing up in the Seattle area, I was always fascinated and bewildered by the towering buildings downtown. Being able to see my designs come to life and make a positive impact on my community has been something that I’ve looked forward to ever since I drew my first shear and moment diagrams.” Although he loves Pacific Northwest nature, Ruvim is a city dweller through-and-through. He loves exploring new cities, learning about their culture, trying new food, and finding the best rooftop to unwind with a beer.

Ryan’s five years of engineering experience in the Alaskan oil fields honed his ability to visualize how designs come to life on a job site – helping him to recognize problems early and find efficient solutions. His experience in the Arctic Circle also made him learn to never take the sun for granted. Did you know that summers in Alaska have a six-week period where the sun doesn’t set, and the winters have a six-week period where the sun doesn’t rise? After shivering through -75 degF, we’re glad Ryan decided to join our civil engineering team, thus moving back to a more temperate climate.

Sam enjoys design challenges and excels in providing options at every phase to deliver the best possible product to his clients. With a passion for mass timber development, he takes pride in collaborating to optimize mass timber systems. A self-professed “jack of all trades,” Sam has more hobbies than he has time for, but mountain biking, skiing, and working on cars might be in his top three.

As the first person to welcome you into our office, Sandy’s winning smile brings joy to coworkers and clients alike. Her can-do attitude mixed with her love for organizing fun staff events, makes her a well-rounded administrator. In her spare time, Sandy can be found cooking, making cakes, and traveling. “I thoroughly believe in the value of travel as one of the best ways to broaden your horizons and appreciate where you live.”

Growing up hearing her family recount their experience with the 1994 Northridge earthquake is what peaked Sarah’s early interest in structural engineering. She found herself questioning if the aftermath could have been less severe if the structures were built more efficiently. One of Sarah’s favorite parts of her career is seeing the impact it has on people. “Working from calculations, drawings, and computer models we help create a physical structure that can be someone’s home or workplace, a child’s classroom, or the care center for someone ill. We touch the lives of hundreds of people through our work without ever meeting them.” An avid sewer, with an interest in historic renovations, and ACE mentoring, Sarah hopes to continue serving as a role model for students interested in pursuing careers in STEM.

An 80’s music connoisseur with a goal to continuously learn and grow as an engineer, Sean thrives when he’s tasked with new building and material types. A great attitude combined with a flexible and hardworking work ethic make him an invaluable team member. Having grown up in Seattle, Sean loves how engineering allows him the opportunity to improve on the city he knows so well.

Steve’s tenacity and perseverance, evident in the firm’s fast growth and continued success, took root far before his working years. He attended Washington State University on a wrestling scholarship, competing as a D1 athlete while completing a rigorous engineering program. Today, that same character affords him unparalleled relationships with the region’s top architects, developers and jurisdictions.

Overseeing the civil practice, Steve pushes his team of engineers to reach beyond their discipline, to “think like an owner,” and to strive for vision that extends far beyond engineering. A thoughtful mediator and a powerful advocate for his clients, Steve bridges the divide that can often exist between clients and regulatory agencies. An advocate of sustainable design long before it became mainstream, Steve is known throughout the industry as the leader in creative design practices.

His work in greater Seattle includes many of the region’s flagships including the Microsoft campus, the Amazon Spheres, The Allen Institute, and the decade-long transformation of South Lake Union.

One of the firm’s earliest employees, Steve is an inventive, experienced industry leader. An almost-architect (his undeniable math skills demanded the engineering route), he loves providing structural solutions for unique architectural visions.

While he specializes in the design of complex renovation projects, Steve’s extensive experience yields a portfolio that spans markets and a mastery of all material types. It’s also granted him the ability to see a project’s “big picture,” understand the goals and perspectives of fellow disciplines, and serve as a leader from coordination through construction.

After living and working abroad for years, Summer is excited to be back in the Pacific Northwest! Her passion lies in crafting messages that resonate. She’s always striving to identify an audiences’ needs, address those needs in a clear way, and deliver value via content. With a passion for literacy, research, and education, Summer enjoys spending her days writing and collaborating with the firm’s many disciplines and departments.

With an incredible love for travel that has led her to beaches and cities around the world – one thing’s for sure, Tanya knows how to balance the books, her passport included. With over a decade of project accounting and A&E industry experience, Tanya tackles each day with positivity and dedication (except for that one time she hiked up Mt. St. Helens and wished a helicopter would fly her back down…).

Terry is responsible for the structural design of hundreds of prominent buildings in the Puget Sound region. Known in the industry for his technical expertise, his 40 years of structural engineering experience spans a wide variety of project types including office buildings, healthcare and laboratory facilities, and public/municipal structures. He is also a well-respected international presenter and author.

He has a keen interest and passion for saving existing buildings, being actively involved in local historic preservation boards as well as a leader in the development of national seismic upgrade codes and standards. Terry balances detailed knowledge of leading technologies with a big-picture perspective to achieve success.

Originally from Tacoma, Tom’s lived all around the country – Boulder, San Francisco, Portland, and Washington D.C., – all before heading back to his Evergreen home state. His curiosity continuously inspires solutions to engineering problems that make our world better. In his spare time, Tom can be found snowboarding, fishing, or traveling.

While Walt may be happiest swinging flies for steelhead, he’s found runner-up happy place collaborating on some of the region’s most noteworthy projects. His diverse AEC experience gives him the ability to translate complex engineering solutions simply to owners and clients alike. A proactive communicator with an eye for designing creative and comfortable commercial office spaces, Walt continuously strives to provide the best project experience possible for his clients.

Walt’s skillset is unique for an engineer, a hybrid of creativity, commercial real estate education, and big-picture thinking. This foundation allows him to be a strong partner for owners and design teams, and a valued leader within Coughlin Porter Lundeen.

William’s ability to evaluate situations from multiple points of view and quickly find mutually agreeable solutions, goes hand in hand with his most desired superpower: telekinesis. While the reality of his ability to move objects with his mind is a little fuzzy, he’s a consistent problem solver that enjoys working closely with teams to deliver successful projects.

With a YOLO mentality and a drive to create efficient and elegant designs, Yuting consistently considers a projects big picture while still delivering on the details. Choosing to pursue a career in engineering due to her love of architecture, Yuting tackles each day with confidence and a sweet sense of humor. In her spare time, you can find her skiing, swimming, or enjoying the great outdoors.

A massive sports fan with a soft spot for the Huskies, Zach tackles each project with precision and big picture thinking. While his primary passion lies in historic renovations, he’s well-versed in all market sectors – especially believing in the importance of renovating unreinforced masonry buildings. As a holistic thinker who understands the importance of concise communication and clear construction documents, Zach is a welcome addition to any team.
