Required extensive multi-disciplinary coordination to accommodate above- and below-grade infrastructure, tight loading pathways, and complex excavation and shoring scenarios. Early coordination with the UW, the design/construction team, and other stakeholders successfully integrated the new construction into this active campus and mitigated cost and schedule surprises.

Leveraged our extensive experience with private sector and other university labs to help the university determine the most economical construction solutions to minimize vibration and maximize floor-to-floor heights, including the first use of flat plate post-tensioned slabs in a UW lab facility.

Strategically placed steel beams to support the glass curtain wall that envelopes the west façade, allowing natural light to permeate deeper within the building.

Integrated steel truss within the roof of the entry atrium to elegantly support the cantilevered north bar.

Innovative site designs include a cistern for rainwater collection that will be a vital resource for greenhouse irrigation and extensive coordination with multiple stakeholders that allowed the Burke Gilman Trail to remain open during construction.
