Supported the university’s unique vision to break from tradition, merging high-end lab, office, and student spaces to create an interdepartmental hub for collaboration and learning.
Recognizing the center as a campus cornerstone, the team ensured a positive visitor experience, designing with walking tour routes top-of-mind and executing complex indoor-to-outdoor transitions.
Aligned with the university’s vision to do things differently and created an untraditional lab and learning space characterized by unique cladding systems, complicated geometries, and exposed structural elements.

Ensured that equipment functioned flawlessly in the new space by designing for significant vibration requirements. The team even accommodated a mass spectrometer, one of the most vibration-sensitive machines in existence.
Maintained ultimate flexibility. A priority to the university, the team’s raised floor system allows the IRIC evolve and be adapted for different researchers’ projects.
