Constructed a state of the art replacement facility that doubled the capacity of the dental assisting, nursing certifications, and biomedical research programs for almost 700 students in grades 10-12. Sea Mar Dental Clinic is a vital community connection and continues to offer hands-on training and potential internships for dental assistant students.

Provided extensive custom detailing and creatively linked lateral bracing for multiple shed roof heights atop the facility. These stepped roof levels and the main glass entry canopy that extends from the plaza through the building’s vestibule required careful coordination with the architect and steel fabricator. Strategic planning of column placement supported the open and flexible floor plan.

PSSC Health Sciences S120390 01 C120390 02 N33 Rain Gardens Parking Lot Building Profile

Worked diligently with two cities and WSDOT to ensure site development was in accordance with all jurisdictional requirements, including a classified wetland, revised vehicle entry, and interconnected pedestrian accessibility. Countless geotechnical issues associated with unsorted fill required a significant portion of the site to be excavated and replaced with new soil.Located rain gardens in the parking lot to naturally treat and detain storm runoff, decreasing the detention vault size and increasing sustainability.Created an inviting, meandering series of plazas composed of interesting paving materials and patterns, landscaping, and strategically placed sitting walls and benches to bridge space between the new structure and the existing campus. These outdoor areas provide new opportunities for teaching, project demonstrations, study groups, and mingling.
