Partnered with Microsoft and pushed creative boundaries to create a one-of-a-kind workspace. Open, collaborative and modern, the buildings are completely unique to Microsoft and align with the company’s Workplace Advantage (WPA) program.

Aligned with the high-design architectural vision, remaining conscious of how end-users would interact with the space and incorporating a multitude of complicated, custom features, including a 60-foot, suspended walkway in Building 17 and dynamic canted walls and skylights throughout.

Designed an incredible “floating” staircase in the central atrium. No columns support the stairs; instead our engineers created a cantilever system which allow the stairs to seem suspended in mid-air.

Encased the stairwell in impressive, multi-story cubes. Although hung from the roof structure, multiple layers of structural steel make the supports effectively invisible, continuing the floating theme. The cubes serve as an anchor of the space and design, and equipped with Microsoft Kinect, they interact with passersby using movement and color.

Coordinated partial demolition of the building’s post-tensioned concrete slab. The dangerous process required careful organization as the team destressed and restressed tendons stretching the length of the building. The process not only accommodated the installation of large pieces, but avoided the need for shoring and created new support points.

Added value to the project team by working against accelerated timelines, conducting advanced analysis for space safety and performance, and leveraging expertise to identify creative solutions.
