Infrastructure upgrades and streetscape improvements support efficient hospital operations while creating a more accessible campus environment.

Roadway enhancements improve ambulance access, patient drop-off and pickup, visitor parking, and loading operations, while widened sidewalks, street furnishings, and reduced roadway crossings create a safer, more welcoming experience for patients and visitors.

The project team performed turning movement and slope studies and coordinated closely with SDOT to secure an early Street Improvement Permit (SIP) and approval for a temporary loading dock within the public right-of-way, allowing campus operations to continue throughout construction.

Supporting the expanded facility required significant utility coordination and undergrounding efforts. The team worked closely with Seattle City Light to extend the underground electrical network three blocks in alignment with the utility master plan. The storm main was also proactively extended to support future development on adjacent sites.

The automated parking system further enhances the patient experience by eliminating the need to search for parking or navigate ramps and elevators. The compact system accommodates the same number of vehicles in three levels that would typically require five floors in a conventional garage, reducing excavation depth and helping address challenges associated with the site’s high water table.
