A custom product display wall integrates with the feature stair connecting the first two floors. Careful detailing preserves the exposed mass timber aesthetic while accommodating new loads and penetrations, including the installation of a horizontal fire shutter system at an existing fourth-floor opening. The tenant improvement also involved coordinating custom guardrails at existing floor openings and providing structural support for catenary lighting and signage.
The open workspace surpasses its function as an office by offering creative design areas such as a sewing studio and materials library. At the same time, it promotes fitness with a gym, bike repair station, bike parking stalls, and locker room. Throughout the design, structural solutions prioritized flexibility and long-term adaptability, aligning with the project’s emphasis on reconfigurable spaces and the building’s participation in Seattle’s Living Building Pilot Program.
