Located in the rapidly evolving Northgate Mall neighborhood, the Northgate mixed-use development consists of two phases. 507 Northgate is a five-story building offering 163 luxury studio and one-bedroom apartments over retail. Given its central location, the project was envisioned as a pedestrian-and transit-oriented development. Following project completion, a fitness club leased the large ground-level retail space, requiring removal of concrete columns to accommodate a basketball court. Large concrete beams were cast over the new span and tensioned to take the load. This allowed column removal without compromising the occupied residential levels above. The second phase of development, 525 Northgate, will continue to meet the increasing demand of residents to be near transit, restaurants, and retail centers by providing a seven-story building featuring a combination of 270 studios and one-and two-bedroom units over retail.
