Constructed in two phases, LifeCare’s Timber Ridge development is reminiscent of a mountain village, consisting of 300 independent living residences, 70 assisted living private rooms, 60 skilled nursing beds, and amenities. Phase 1 posed several challenges including accounting for the future phasing, blending structural elements within the units, and working on a steeply sloping site. The sustainable site layout integrated the building and roads into the slope to minimize the need to import or export material. Phase 2 involved the design of a public road which will complete a loop around the entire Timber Ridge campus. Our team also created a utility access tunnel to run under one of the existing roads and connect living unit wings. This was the first senior living community in the Northwest to receive a LEED certification.
