When Seattle Shakes

As seismic design professionals, we play a unique and vital role in earthquake preparedness and response. We’re excited to be contributors of AIA Seattle’s online program, When Seattle Shakes. The virtual exhibit (Feb. 4 – Jul. 17) explores how to align the goals of historic preservation and resilient design in earthquake prone cities.

Industry professionals will share valuable insights and speak to their roles in keeping structures safe with virtual sessions and AEC-crowdsourced content. The exhibit aims to “foster a ‘seismic culture’ in Seattle that is aware and proactive, to highlight opportunities for progress before another earthquake occurs.”

The website is packed with interesting information and resources for both AEC and the greater community and will grow as content is curated. It already includes a handy glossary of AEC jargon, an interactive map that explores seismic risks, and details case studies like Washington Hall, a historic structure our team helped restore.
