For many, the arrival of September signals the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year. Back-to-school shopping hits its peak: parents outfitting their children with supplies they’ll need for the year ahead. Because gearing up for a new school year isn’t a simple feat for some families, we partnered with Mary’s Place this summer to help these students start the year off right.
Did you know 56% of guests staying in Mary’s Place shelters are under the age of 18? Education is a valuable tool for these kids and their families. It’s important to us that we do what we can to help them be successful in school.
Tracking our progress on a grid filled with Mary’s Place Amazon Wish List items, we gathered more than enough rulers, pens, binders and even Ti-84 Plus calculators to fill 25 backpacks for their Back to School Extravaganza.
It was fun to make the back-to-school transition a little easier for some students, but we know there’s always more that can be done. The school drive is over, but Mary’s Place provides countless opportunities to get involved. Learn more about how you can help.
