Out of Office: A Roundup of Summer Adventures

How we spend our time outside of the office affects the work we do inside. Our adventures keep up inspired, make us better teammates, encourage us to keep learning, challenge us to think differently, and afford us new perspectives. The Out of Office series showcases our team members’ activities and pursuits, both big and small. This summer, we’re showcasing exceptional recreational escapades!

Naomi Medley and crew sailed the Annapurna at Race Week Anacortes – her team took second place in the week-long regatta. The 36-foot craft was featured on the cover of the local boating and sailing magazine, Seattle 48 Degrees North! And a stunning view from Matia Island Marine State Park in the San Juan Islands from Naomi’s sail-cation.

Our resident thrill seekers! Left: Sam White captured mid-air mountain biking at Silver Mountain in Kellogg, Idaho. Right: Karen Freda nails an impressive trick skate handstand grab.

Left: Dave and Kristine McLane took home the gold in the Washington State Senior Games in the walking soccer division. Yes, it’s a thing! The match is played on a smaller field with 8-players per side. Right: Molly Gentry and co. soaking up the summer with a mellow Fall City River float.

Katya Finegold and Katlyn Christenson discovered their mutual passion for open water swimming through our internal company newsletter and have enjoyed taking plunges together since! They embarked on a week-long “swim-cation” in Sitka, Alaska to participate in the Change your Latitude swim race benefiting the local Baranof Barracudas swim team. One of the most northernmost races in the world, water temps reached a frigid 50 degrees from the ice melt! They competed in a 6K relay together, each swimming 3K in the ocean amongst jumping salmon and sea lions.
