Built in the 1940s, Renton Memorial Stadium underwent a much-needed renovation to combat wear and tear from heavy use. Host to thousands of visitors each year, the stadium is used for sporting events, public events, and as the practice field for the Seattle Seahawks. This project demolished several components of the existing stadium and modernized all facilities to improve durability and upgrade the structure’s street presence. Our firm’s seismic and hybrid bracing solutions utilized the existing structure to minimize impacts to programming and sightlines while still providing the necessary upgrades. We also outlined strategies for repairing the years of water damage to concrete and steel elements, which helped the owner save on excess costs. This effort translated into more than $1 million in cost savings on site work due to our minimization of potential stormwater upgrades by resurfacing the parking lot rather than replacing it entirely.
