Our firm has provided structural and civil design services for the Muckleshoot Tribe on a number of their projects. The phased expansion of their casino in Auburn, for instance, required that we work within an accelerated schedule on the steel structure and site development. We worked on the Muckleshoot Elders Center and the adjacent Behavioral Health Building, as well as the Youth Recovery Home and Tribe Smokehouse. Notably, the Muckleshoot Tribal School won the AIA Washington Council’s 2010 Civic Design Honor Award. For all of the projects, we coordinated extensively with the tribe to integrate their needs and to determine cost-saving methods, the result being an integrated tribal community as well as a fully modernized casino.
