Converted the three-story, early 90s building into a new learning center. (Fun fact: the building was previously the Eddie Bauer headquarters!)
Additions included a new corporate training area, a new library, a new visitor center, and new offices.
Completed a structural renovation and a seismic upgrade. The seismic upgrade added new concrete shear walls, infilled an existing elevator shaft, and provided new foundations.
Created a comfortable, modern learning environment, removing columns to provide large open areas for classrooms and adding slab openings provided within the existing post-tensioned slabs.
Incorporated creative features including two steel stair towers, three outdoor steel canopies, under-floor air distribution, and large open skylights for natural lighting.
Coordinated extensively with the West Campus design team, successfully integrating infrastructure, drainage, pedestrian, and vehicular access and fire protection within the new Microsoft Studios Campus. The design took advantage of the existing utility infrastructure and storm drainage systems. Additional power and communication requirements were met by providing redundant service feeds.
