The fifth phase of Amazon’s walkable urban campus, the 11-story, steel-framed Arizona building features high-tech office space over ground level retail and four stories of below-grade parking. A pedestrian-oriented plaza serves as the entrance to Arizona, providing an inviting space for workers, residents, and neighborhood visitors to enjoy. Green roofs, green walls, and landscaped terraces provide additional amenity space and contribute to this project’s LEED Gold rating. Tight floor-to-floor heights required precise integration of structural and mechanical systems and close coordination between team members. By efficiently integrating the structure with the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, our firm helped maximize available interior space. Upgrading communication and utility infrastructure for this project required excavation of a shared alley that a neighboring property used for garage access. In order to accommodate the adjacent building’s needs without affecting the project schedule, a vehicle bridge was constructed over the site excavation to allow access to the garage throughout construction.
